Hamish grew up in Sydney’s east and spent holidays on a farm in rural NSW. It was here that Hamish discovered the joy of being around animals and made the decision to study to be a vet, graduating from Sydney University in 1992. Hamish has been the co-owner of Hotel for Cats since 2009 and makes sure all guests are healthy and happy during their stay. He is a self-confessed cat fancier and is pictured here with one of the loves of his life, Clancy. Hamish is married to Holly and they have darling daughters, one very spoilt cat, two adored dogs and 10 cherished chickens. Hamish enjoys the odd round of golf and is a mad supporter of the Wallabies and Waratahs.
Born and raised in the Shire, Alana was always happiest when surrounded by pets. She knew she would end up working with animals as she has an inherent drive to care for all creatures, great and small. After completing her HSC, Alana went straight into Animal Studies at TAFE, then completed her veterinary nursing qualification while working at Hotel for Cats, beginning in 2012. Alana enjoys making sure every suite and reservation is purr-fect and loves sneaking a cuddle with our guests. Alana loves her gorgeous ginger rescue cat Tarzan and enjoys reading and travel.
From a young age, Chloe’s parents noticed her aspiration to help animals and their owners. Her devotion to her own pets was beyond compare, so when she left high school after her HSC, her family wasn’t surprised when Chloe knew exactly what she wanted to do and enrolled in TAFE to study veterinary nursing. To complement her studies, in 2015 Chloe sought out a position at Hotel for Cats. Chloe is now a qualified nurse and enjoys all aspects of her role, particularly making sure every guest receives five star room service and love. Chloe is mum to two horses but never gives up on the dream of one day owning her very own cat.
As a nature lover and environmentalist, Jessie simply adores all animals. Throughout her life, in addition to her own pets, she’s always the first to offer her home as a respite centre for homeless pets. That continues today. Jessie has been working at Hotel for Cats since 2016, starting out as a volunteer while she was studying Certificate IV and becoming a qualified nurse in 2017. She feels she has found her calling in life, working with guests and their families.
Jessie takes great pride in helping two and four legged clients by providing outstanding customer service on the phone and at reception. Behind the scenes, she is a calming influence and can often be found cuddling and talking to guests in her soothing, gentle voice. Jessie loves travelling to far flung, remote places to gain a deeper cultural appreciation of the world and its two and four legged citizens.
Our resident American Keith lives onsite and looks after our precious guests after hours. Keith originally joined the US military to help pay for his college fees and seven years later, completed two Masters degrees in Forensic Science and Pharmacology/Toxicology. When he wasn’t studying, Keith volunteered at animal hospitals around the world as a veterinary assistant. Recently, he left the military and his home country to study vet science at Sydney Uni and we are thrilled to have him caring for our guests after hours. Keith plays the guitar and and likes going to the movies.
Holly absolutely loves being around cats as they give her a sense of contentment and happiness. She has “owned” cats her entire life and in 2008 decided to take the plunge and design the finest cat hotel where clients could go on holiday knowing their pussycats were soothed and loved in accommodations that were second-to-none. Holly wanted to open the hotel right next door to the vet to give clients peace of mind. Holly is very proud of her team of hotel staff and their hard work and commitment to our feline guests and their human servants. Holly loves reading, tennis and spending time with her three daughters.
